Gastroenteritis
Gastroenteritis is a infection and
inflammation of the stomach and/or intestines. It can occur from
viral or bacterial infections. Mild cases can be evaluated in
most Walk in Clinics. More severe cases with dehydration
need the services of an Emergency Department. Typically presenting with nausea,
vomiting, and diarrhea these patients also present with fever.
Dehydration and electrolyte disturbances are of concern, and can
easily occur in the very young and the elderly. Immediate
medical attention should be obtained by those with persistent
nausea and vomiting.
